J.B. Sutton's Lego team has been doing really well with the presentation and programming with the robot. I'm getting stress out because I feel like we won't meet the standards. We have been able to execute some of the easy mission but we have been having trouble with the harder mission. I wish I could be help them with every little step so we could program it really well. I hope we make it to the finals.

I put a kid that was just messing around in the team to program the other robot. I made the it a challenge that the kid that was messing around would to better than Eduardo and his team at programming a mission. I was shocked because I thought Eduardo was going to win but the kid surprised me because it didn't take him long to figure out how to program and execute the mission. That was a proud day for the team.

The J.B. Sutton Lego Team has been advancing with the robot programming. They have been working on there presentation and I think we will win because it the best idea ever. The team has two robots that they have a competition to see who programs the mission better. It has been a really challenge to complete them because we don't get kit that F.I.R.S.T. Lego League provides which would make it easier for us.

We went to Madison Park School to recruit incoming freshmen for Robotics and Marine Science so we can keep the program up and running. I talk to people but I know I could of done better. I hope many incoming freshmen get interested in F.I.R.S.T. Many people are afraid to send their children to Carl Hayden because it has a bad reputation. We are known as the worst school because a percent of student make it. Their is only two official member that freshmen on the team we need more so Robotics could continue to grow.

 We been having trouble with the robot programming. Sometimes it moves to much ahead and other times it ends up not to far. I am learning as they go because I'm new to this and its really difficult to do this. I image how the 4th and 5th grade feel about this. I hope we get done with the missions on time. We have two robots to see which kid programs the robot better and we will use only one. I hope!

I been helping J.B. Sutton build a robot. Giving the little kids ideas and they have been only focusing on one mission. They almost have it perfect but having trouble getting the mission done. I hope we have enough time for the other missions. The kid that has been surprising me is named Eddie. He has been taking charge of the programming and has been successfully in programming the robot to do the mission. Now we need the other missions.

We watch the movie "Freedom Riders." The movie was excellent reminded me of my past experiences. The students made me realize that my live is really good compare to their lives. Many of them had a challenging live I wish I could help them all. Teachers should be more like her and focus on their kids instead of just teaching them. The kids would want to learn more and do more for the community. Coach Freddi is doing that in Carl Hayden that is why I want to keep learning about Engineering and about politics. He really challenge us to do more even if we live in circumstances that are healthy for us.

The J.B. Sutton student's were so titillate to finish the pieces they been working on. I was helping a girl named Dominique she was having a little trouble following the instruction. So we took the pieces apart and started all over from the begging. We carefully went thorough the instruction. Each time we moved on to the next step I ask her "does the piece look like the picture. I hope on monday we can get done. She is learning fast now everytime we move on to another step she even makes fun of me by repeating the question I keep asking her.

The kid at J.B. Sutton were excited to start building the kit. I was helping look for the parts they need. They always say "I can't find the piece" but when I went to look for it I always found. Most kid didn't have problems with the directions and putting the parts together. Many were delighted because the finish their part of the kit that they needed to build many got bored because they didn't have things to do. So we have to wait for the people that weren't done. My group didn't get to finish but I hope we finish tomorrow.

My third day of mentoring. I hope they got their Lego Kit I want to start helping them build. Joach and I went to J.B. Sutton. We meet Mr. Jones at the computer lab. He told us "the kit is finally here." I was really exultant because we can finally build. The computer didn't want to take the disk with the instruction. I was mad we tried and tried but it didn't work. Finally Mr. Jones decided to go somewhere else to put the disk and print the instruction out. He printed them out but it was to late we had to leave.

On friday I was watching John Harris was making a code for the robot. I didn't understand anything he was saying because I am new to the programming team. I need a laptop to advance because if I had a laptop it will be easy I could take the data home.

Second day of Mentoring. Two people decided to go with me Staphany and Rebecca. The team was happy that they got to play with lego pieces. It was fun because the little kids were excited to play with the lego. Staphany told me "that all the kids there look up to us as rodel models." I was shocked because a kid actually knew my name. I can't believe me can make such an impact in someone's life.

First day of mentoring I am so excited about helping the lego league. When I got their the team was bigger than I expected. There was fourteen fifth and fourth grades. We just watch videos and did research. I want to go back tommorrow.

We arrived in San Diego City College.They had a large team compare to University California, San Diego. They lack of programers they only have one programmer. They sort of copied the design of seabotix. The hardest part the programming. I talk to the guy that did programming he said "if he was not there the team will have a big set back." I told him "why they didn't collaborated with the other teams in San Diego to atleast try to win the AUV competition.

September 16-17, 2010

The trip was incrediable. The first day was really long took us 6 hours to get there. When we went to see Seabotix the robots blew me away. The capability of the robots was increadible. The robots could pull a human out of the water. I found out that human can survive 90 minutes underwater if the water is really cold. There is were the robot comes in and saves the day. They can be use to fish and explore under water ship recks. We went to UCSD (University of California, San Diego) the robot had an incredible design. They didn't really have us a straight answer about the what camera to use. He have us alot of information about information. It helped us alot.

We had a meeting about seaboxtics. Coach Freddy was frustated because no one help him do research. He told us to read the manual for the AUV because we need to ask question to the people that have build AUV. If we are not prepare then we won't get anything from the trip to Sam Diego.

I watch Hugo painting the frame of the robot. I wish I could of help it looked extraordinary. He was almost done but unfortunately we ran out of paint. When we went to the play room there we kids that are home school. They are really smart they ask many question to Coach Freddy. It was funny because they keep taking pictures of Coach Freddy. Coach Freddy is a celebrity to people in FIRST. To people in Team 842 he is an inspiration because he always pushes us to do more than the best and to work hard. The kids had a lot of ideas I was shocked because of there age when I was there age never worried about build a lego robot.

August 30- September 2

On monday we were cutting the frames with Eddie. Joach and Isaac cut it perfect. I was jeolous because I didn't do it right. Everyone learns from their mistakes. So who doesnt start making mistakes then they won't learn anything. On Tuesday I was watching Dilan and a group of new students putting on the frames together. I arrive a little late because I was doing math homework. On Wednesday Dilan, Martin and I were trying to set up the tires in the middle of the hinges so they won't move when the robot moves. We had it easy until there was a tire that was giving us problems because it wasn't fitting in the middle. Elizabeth was sreaming at us because we didn't hurry up. On Thursday we watch the movie "2 million minutes" it was made me want to study more and do all my homework. It was ironic because Johns's roomate walk-in and he was Chinese. He was really impress with the robot we had.

I got many brochures pasted them out in open house. I have to people from the University, Colleges, Banks and students parent. All the people were excited about donation to the team. I even have to the people in the army. They told me to aim for a target but if you don't atleast shoot at anything, how do you find a target?

We watch the movie "The Road." The movie really made me think alot of what I have. Made me realized that people are not humans when they start doing things humans wouldn't regular do. People should help each other out instead of hurt one another it will make us better person.

Eddy showed us how to be safe as FIRST wanrts us to be. It was interesting how safe FIRST made me feel. After that we when to learn how to cut fiber glass. It smelled like something was burning. After we were done we need to learn how to mount the tires.

I went to ask for donations at Bell Road and 61st pl. No one opended the door i hear people walking to the door but no one opened. Some people seemed scared of me. At the end i was upset and started leaving the brochures stuck in the door.

Richarcd Ruelas and David Wallace came to show us a presentation. I was touch by the story of robotics i already felt like I was part of the team the emotional part anyways. I hope my mom understood the importance of Robotics. She even ask me for tax credit brochure. I was shocked on Sunday I am going to pass some out hope it goes well.

I have been studying Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. It is really nice I never know their were two types of robots Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles (ROVs) and Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs). I am very interested I really can't wait to build an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle.

I was learning how to program with a calculator. It's not as hard as it sounds even John was having a little trouble with it. I really want to get to the basics so bad so I can help him out seems like they need it.

During lunch I was building a LEGO kit. I was excited to finish my first piece. I was almost done with the first piece but before I knew it there was two pieces missing I was sad. Then came back to work after school I almost finish a kit with Hugo. Can wait to finish the whole kit.

We watch a movie called "October Sky." It really inspired me to keep coming to Robotics and it made want to make rockets too. Robotics has been the best that has ever happened to me. Can't wait to meet new people and watch more movies.

August 4th

After school we cleaned alot. After we were done I went to robot lab. I meet some guy name John. He taught me how weld. The different between the tubes that were black and red. Some protected the wire from water and some just keeped them together. It was so much fun. People told me it was to late but I thought if I never joined I wouldn't have the chance to weld or put wires together now I think it will be easy to install speaker or a sound system it is easier than I thought.
